Program · 8 weeks · Accelerated
An 8-week accelerated program producing a professional editorial portfolio across long-form, short-form, and multimedia formats — with optional extended mentorship.

The Communication & Media stream is built around a single deliverable: a professional editorial portfolio containing five finished pieces across three formats. Over eight weeks, participants develop content strategy fundamentals, apply digital storytelling principles, and learn to interpret audience analytics to inform editorial decisions. Faculty include working journalists, content strategists, and digital producers who bring current briefs, platform constraints, and real editorial standards into every session. The program does not cover graphic design or video production in depth — the focus is on written and structured content, with multimedia meaning audio, short-form video scripting, and interactive formats.
Two pieces of 800 to 1,200 words: a feature article and an analysis piece. Both are reviewed by a working editor and revised through at least one round of structured feedback before inclusion in the portfolio.
Two short-form pieces — a news brief and a social-platform thread — optimised for reach and clarity. Students complete a written rationale explaining platform choice, audience targeting, and measurement approach.
One multimedia script — audio or short-video format — with a corresponding production brief. The script is read aloud and recorded during a live session, then critiqued by a practising producer.
Students who complete the eight-week program can opt into a four-week mentorship extension at an additional cost. The mentorship pairs each student with one industry mentor for two 45-minute sessions, focused on portfolio positioning, platform-specific optimisation, and introductions to the mentor's professional network where appropriate. The extension is available only to students who complete the core program — it is not available as a standalone product. Hancdiv does not guarantee job placement through the mentorship. Outcomes depend on the individual's portfolio quality, target market, and effort applied during the mentorship period.
“I came in as a marketing coordinator who had been writing blog posts for three years. I left with a portfolio I was proud to share. The editor feedback was direct and specific — not the kind of soft encouragement I had received elsewhere. My first freelance clients came within two weeks of publishing the portfolio.”
